Our business has been established for more than 20 years. Started by Peter Sherrell as a spin off from a firm of agricultural engineers at Staddiscombe, Peter moved to nearby premises at Leyford Parks, building up a loyal customer base in the years leading up to his retirement. Peter concentrated upon machinery servicing and repairs, always offering good value for money.

This mantra remains the same today, having been extended to include the sale of a comprehensive range of new machinery following the purchase of the business by Steve Aldridge in 2012 when the business was restyled ‘Plymstock Garden Machinery’.

Having outgrown the Leyford Parks premises, and with an increasing number of clients finding us from West Devon and East Cornwall as well as bringing us machinery from their French properties, the business moved (May 2016) to new and easy to find premises in Valley Road, Plympton (next to Clean Spares).

The decision to become ‘Plymouth Garden Machinery’ was a logical one but our core values remain unchanged.

We exist to make gardening easier and more pleasurable for you the customer.

Please do come and see us.

our services

Cordless Equipment

Battery powered garden tools – such as hedge trimmers, strimmers, chainsaws and mowers – are lightweight and designed to be comfortable to use and just as powerful as petrol driven alternatives.

They are environmentally friendly with no emissions to pollute the atmosphere, cost effective with lower running costs than petrol machinery and more convenient and safer than electric machinery.

Robot Mowers

The introduction of battery-powered robotic lawnmowers has transformed the task of keeping lawns in good shape. Using GPS technology, robotic lawnmowers move around the garden avoiding obstacles – and even put themselves away after use. Many customers regard their robot mower as a new member of the family!

Servicing and Repairs

A properly set up, regularly maintained machine will give you the best results, save you time and energy and will have a longer life.

We offer a full range of servicing and repairs from simple blade sharpening and repairs to cut cables and broken switches to major equipment overhauls. No job is too small.

We are service agents for the following garden machinery brands: Ariens, Atco, Countax (we source Westwood parts too!), ECHO, Hayter, Husqvarna, IBEA, Lumag, Masport, Maruyama, Mountfield, Stiga, Tanaka, Toro and Webb. We are happy to carry out servicing and repair work on other brands, subject to the machine being of a suitable quality, parts being readily available to us and the repair being considered economical in relation to the age and value of the machine.
